Willie Mae Thornton - Hound Dog ( an oldie but i love it )
Get to know him.............
1) If you could have any record in the world, what would it be and
why?
I get nearly every record I've ever wanted so it would have to be
something that was really hard to find
rather than just expensive , so I'll say Johnnie Taylor - Blues in the
Night( French EP )
2) Who are your biggest influences in DJ'ing and why?
Until recently i would have said no one but i can't say that anymore ,
getting involved in Flipside has
opened up so many doors as to what is playable and possible so i am
influenced by Mark Stewart and the
whole Flipside and Midnite Town Crews
3) If you could DJ another style, other than that you are known for,
what would it be?
I honestly don't think i could , if it wasn't rhythm 'n' soul it would
be a total mixture with no name and
no home on gods green earth
4) Why did you become a DJ, rather than a collector?
It wasn't a choice , i went for years with no intention of ever playing
records for a crowd until my
mate needed a favour and i DJ'd for him , people seemed to like it and
it is a beautiful feeling to see
a busy dancefloor.
5) What's the "best" record you own?
Price has never interested me at all , quality doesn't cost money when
it come to good tunes . At the moment
"best" for me means the record that gets the reaction from other people
, the one that i know is great and
realising other people think so to ... with that in mind Curtis And The
Creeps - The Thing Pt1 ....because
not many people know it and it gets a reaction whenever people hear it .
6) Where is you favourite place to eat, and the best meal they
serve.?
This is where it gets sad , i love chicken and eat it as often as i can
in many different dishes but
absolutely love southern fried from KFC
7) Do you collect anything else?
Not really , ever since i was young it was always records and pretty
much nothing else
8) Favourite drink?
Milk ..... I don't ever drink more than 2 pints of anything in a session
anymore but when i did drink i
loved a freezing pint of cider
9) Most embarrassing / funny moment whilst DJ'ing
When Dj'ing with Des Crombie at a scooter rally in Scotland he claimed "
If no one dances I will drop my
trousers " and in all honesty he did , 3 times and he still does
10) Favourite movie (or type of movie)
Grease ...now i know that sounds sad but hey that's it , i wish i could
say something obscure and art house ,
but i can't
